Where did you grow up and where do you currently reside?

I grew up in Texas, all over, but I go "home" to Austin, TX. I now hide out in Las Vegas, NV when I'm not on the road.

How did you initially get involved with motorcycles?

I read about backpackers buying bikes in Vietnam and doing cross country on them, so I called up my brother and we flew into Hanoi Vietnam, bought these shitty bikes for $240 and then travelled for a month across the North. This is how I learned to ride and have been addicted ever since.

When did you get your first bike and what was it?

I rented bikes around the world and was riding for 5 years before I finally bought my first bike earlier this year! In January I purchased a Harley Davidson 2021 Low Rider S. My first motorcycle ride was on the back of my dad's '89 sportster....with silver flames.

What do you currently ride and why?

I'm still on my Midnight Crimson Low Rider S and have almost 30,000 miles on it this year. I may need to trade-in for a Pan America...And why? I just love that it's got great power and I can crush miles on it, but it's still kind of sporty and great to rip around town on.

What is your happiest memory that involves motorcycles?

Some of my favorite memories around motorcycles involve the different communities that I was a part of. I spent 3 years in and out of Bali and helped form the Canggu Sunday Ride, a social club that rode around the island every Sunday. So many good memories with this group. Always inviting new friends to be a part of it and sharing adventures. One year, our group did a Santa Rally down the beach and had races in Santa hats. Such a good time. Another great moment, was getting to take the new HD Pan America this summer on a 3-week trip. I got to link up with a couple of different groups of friends and create some really awesome memories, but also had a really good time off-roading solo through Utah. This was just the first start to this summer's adventures, but I actually packed up my whole life onto my bike and spent a good 2 solid months on the road after that trip. So Summer 2021 will forever be the summer of motorcycle riding and new friends.

Outside of motorcycles, tell us a little about yourself?

I'm a bit of a gypsy. In 2015 I quit my job as a marketing director in Los Angeles and jumped on a one-way flight to Italy. Since then I've lived all over the world, freelancing as a graphic/web designer. At one point in my travels, I ended up walking 500 miles across Spain. I was totally thinking of motorcyles the whole time, but on that trip it was just my legs. When the pandemic hit, I came back to the United States and still haven't reallllly been able to settle down my gypsy ways. When I do finally have some downtime and am not traveling, I'm a pretty avid gym-goer, I like powerlifting and rowing. Now that it's winter I'm trying to get more consistent in my fitness.

How have you become a more confident rider? Things you’ve done to help you gain confidence?

I think the most important thing is to just say "yes". Go on that campout, go on that ride, ride with new people of ALL skill levels. Those that are more confident, you will learn from them. Those that you are more confident than, you will gain more confidence in passing on your own skills. Trust that you are more capable than you realize.

What is your dream trip/bucket list ride(s)?

Oh man, soooo many. Thanks to the pandemic, I wasn't able to ride the Himalayas in India and that is pretty high on my list. I also really want to ride through Portugal and eventually hop over to Morrocco. Oh and ride across the Bolivian Salt Flats in South America. It might also be cool to do the Rickshaw Run. That is riding Tuk Tuks across India so not sure if that really counts as riding, but they have 3 wheels.

How do you think motorcycles have changed your life?

It has been a good way to meet people around the world. No matter what languages, life experiences, differences you may have, something led you to two wheels and that gives you common ground with anyone that you meet riding. It's also brought some pretty incredible women into my life that I have the honor of calling my good friends.

Do you have any upcoming motorcycle trips/rides planned?

Always! Trying to do a section of Route 66 through Arizona before it gets too cold. Trying to ride some dirt bikes over Thanksgiving. It's rare for me to not have something on the books, helps me stay motivated to be productive when I'm not riding.
